This is an excellent pattern. The patterns from Islander are the first patterns I’ve purchased that fit and were fun and easy to make. The videos and sew alongs are outstanding.

The best instructions I've ever seen. So grateful to have something easy to sew that comes out every time in a variety of fabrics.

    Baja shirt pattern review

Posted by Unknown on 1st Nov 2016

I've been looking for a Baja hooded jacket pattern to use with my handwoven fabric. I made my first Baja over the weekend using cotton to test the pattern. Pattern was easy to follow, fits well altho possibly runs a bit large. I'm okay with that because I plan to wear it over other clothing.

I didn't make the hood as instructed (I wanted something that allowed fewer cuts for handwoven fabric) so I can't say if that part of the pattern is correct but the rest of it was. I'm looking forward to making more and trying the pattern with handwoven fabric.

    Simple Pattern

I really liked the directions for this pattern. They are clear, with many pictures to show construction. The garment it self is a breeze to make! Even if you have never sewed before this is a great beginer project! I would appreciate more product suggestions though: You mention one companies interfacing to use, it would be nice to have 2 more companies as well. I am not going to order specific interfacing if I can trot off to my local fabric/sewing store and get something else so I can sew TODAY! Other wise a great pattern.

First time making a garment in YEARS.

Posted by DeltaDawn on 24th Aug 2015

I bought this pattern to use with my handwoven fabric. I've just made one in muslin to practice and check sizing, which is great, and am excited to make the real deal. The instructions are very clear - easing in the sleeve caps went just as described.
