Islander Sewing Systems 1 – Now in Workbook Format

In this book on industrial techniques for garment construction, Janet explains sewing methods that have proven to be superior. Each is carefully and clearly explained in a logical sequence, accompanied by close-up photography to illustrate the steps. Readers are encouraged to make samples to reinforce the learning process. Although this workbook will be easily understood by beginning home-sewers, it is also valuable to the more advanced who wish to improve their techniques.

Islander Sewing Systems uses no pins or basting and emphasizes that the most important key to creativity comes from total understanding of materials and machines. Once you learn this system, your technical difficulties are over - you only need to follow where your imagination leads you. The techniques are so deceptively simple that they become second nature. This means that ideas quickly become reality without resorting to complicated and cumbersome methods. Just imagine cutting your sewing time in half and producing truly professional results. Now that’s exciting!

Additional supplements will be released periodically and can easily be added to the workbook.

    Great Handbook

I haven't been able to get much into the book as yet (just received it a couple of days ago), but it looks great. The only thing missing that I had hoped would be included is is Welt Pockets. Well worth the money to get all the Islander Sewing Techniques.

Professional and Personal Sewing and Handy Techniques

Posted by Deirdre on 13th Sep 2017

I found this workbook really great and easy to read and follow. There are really great techniques that cut down the amount of time of having to construct garments, using these techniques. I will have this workbook on my sewing table, ready to refer to and try the different methods of sewing garments, which is so easy and having them look professional. I am already using a lesser amount of pins!!!! Really impressed.

Perfect at home reference and teaching tool.

I love the breakdown of information, it's a lot like the Islander patterns. I really love all the pictures, and especially the templates at the end of the book so you can practice techniques without having to dig everything out in the middle of a project. I am really looking forward to working through and having my own samples, but until I finish my current project, this is a great reference and has already sped up both my speed and quality.
