Master Patterns
This pattern enables an aspiring designer to have their own set of children's pants and skirt blocks.
Age range is from preschool through first grade. The styles are similar for girls and boys; color and details are the primary differences.

- Elastic Waist Pants (front & back)
- Gathered Skirt (front & back)
- Hip Pocket (top & under)
- Patch Pocket
You are not limited to these options.
You can use other patterns in your collection by simply adding various pockets, yokes and/or creating different legging widths, skirt fullness, and lengths. Or you can design your own pattern pieces by following the instructions in my book: Patternmaking Made Easy. Your design choices are almost endless.
These are master patterns and are intended to give you the flexibility to make a wide range of designs. These require a bit of creativity and refinement. The patterns are not intended to serve as a complete design and ready-to-sew directly out of the envelope.
Due to the very wide range of possible design options, we do not have the space to include all of the possible design and sewing instructions.
Brief, general guidelines are given for creating new designs. These instructions do not explain the design and patternmaking process in full. Please refer to Patternmaking Made Easy for complete, step-by-step procedures and illustrations.
For your sewing convenience, we have included the sewing steps needed to sew any style garment. Again, these are only brief instructions. Fully detailed and illustrated sewing instructions can be found in A Guide To Fashion Sewing.
